Artist Statement
My paintings focus on memory, identity, and the ties within personal history. The work is informed by my own lineage. Using old photographs that my family has collected over the years, I have created a series of oil paintings that portrays where I came from, and how my family has shaped the artist I am today. A lot of my paintings feature my father, who is my main influence as an oil painter. When reflecting on his life through these old photographs, I can find similarities between the life he lived at my age, and the life I am currently living. From work to college courses, and family matters, these similarities inspire me to create something that ties all our experiences together. Overall, I have created these paintings to invoke nostalgia within myself.

My sculpture work consists of assignments from the art courses I have taken at Florida State University. I am inspired by the construction process of each piece. Through my three-dimensional art I have learned how to sew fabric, and weld metal. I use these processes to create whimsical sculptures that are meant to inspire fun, and reflection.
